CHET LUBBEN 1947 - 1970 MANAGER-SCHEDULES & CHARTERS, DIRECTOR-SALES ADMINISTRATION, MANAGER-MARKETING SERVICES, MANAGER-SALES STANDARDS DEN C. R. "Chet" Lubben 6-18-08 to 6-17-04 Chet was early MAL, either '46 or '47. Spent most of career in DEN city sales. Had the Schedule dept late 50's-early 60's (I took over Schedules from him in '62). Believe he left the company in late 60's. Altho he was a good friend (and the most loyal employee I ever met) and we made several extended innerline sales trips together, I cant offer any further info about dates of service. Nor can I think of anyone who can fill us in. Would like the details if you get any. He lived in TUS and I had been corresponding with him over the years and visited in '91. My last letter from him was just 2 weeks before he died. He was truly one of the nicest gentlemen you would ever meet. -Bill Monday (6/30/04) SUNLINER NEWS HIGHLIGHTS Vol. 1 - #1 (Dec. 10, 1951) Frontier's traffic gains - 1st nine months of 1951: *76,776 passengers *21 million rev. passenger miles *2,128 M pounds air freight *Total Revenues - $2,993,000 *Non-mail revenues $1,195,000 Silver City-Hurley service inaugurated 12/1/51 on route between Phoenix and El Paso. 200 people carried at $2.50 each on sight-seeing flights over area. It appears Chet retired about 1970 when he was 62 years old. -Jake Lamkins (5/8/13) Chet Lubben was a treasure. He would tell us about blitzing the little towns in the old days like Monte Vista, Valentine Neb and many others where he and the other reps would promote 2 or 3 stop service and all they had to hand out was a timetable. Chet had Frontier written all over him we all cried when Larry Sills accepted his retirement due to a severe cut back due to our losing so much money. God bless his memory. -Art Giffin (5/8/13)
