CEL LANDI 1970 - 1986 RESERVATION AGENT PHX DEN Just wanted to inform you of the sad news that Cel Landi passed away on Thurs, Apr 6 in PHX. She was a res agt and longtime ALEA Rep. There will be no services. She is survived by her brother, Gary and a nephew. She was a good friend to many and I'm sure her friends would want to know. Her obituary will be in tomorrow's paper and will advise you of more info then. -Diane Olesky (4/8/00) Cel and I were good friends since 1969, even sharing an apartment at one time. I think her brother made a call to Nancy Young in Den and asked her to advise friends up there, but I'm not sure if Carolyn still lives there. Cel was a true friend and I will miss her. I was a res supv and as you well know Cel was ALEA. During the time we shared an apartment, we were both questioned as to whether it was a good idea to be such close friends since we were on different sides of the fence. (This was during negotiations). We both laughed about it because we each had enough respect for the other to never discuss what could be delicate issues and never put the other in an awkward position. Right now I expect she's up there looking down at us and with all her tact and, shall we say, ability to express herself, she's saying something like, "Jesus Christ you guys, I'm gone, so get over it. God damn it, did you expect me to be there forever?!" That's our Cel! If you need obituary info or whatever, just let me know. It's supposed to be in the paper tomorrow. I do know she was 61 years old, survived by 1 brother, Gary and a nephew, Juan. She worked for FL from 1968 (I think) til the end. Started in Phoenix in res, then went to Den when Phx closed. -Diane Olesky (4/8/00) I had a e-mail last week from Gary (Cel's brother) telling me that Cel was in a facility and gave me a number to call. I called Thursday afternoon expecting to talk to Cel at 6:00pm. The nurse told me that she had died at 500PM. Gary was with her and she had gone into a coma that day. Her heart and kidneys could not withstand and she died. It really makes me think about death and losing loved ones and our friends who have already died at such a young age. Surely there is a purpose in life that God allows us to stay here and go thru the ups and downs, pains and heartaches longer than those that have left us. Cel had a wonderful love for her friends and was a little stubborn and she did not take care for herself with her diabetics. She suffered a lot and I am sure she is enjoying that final resting place with no pain. -Shirley Shackelford (4/9/00) Below is the complete obituary for Cel as it appeared in today's Arizona Republic. I know I have some photos somewhere but of course can't find them. Shirley Shackelford was a close friend of Cel's and she may have one. Feel free to edit this as you see fit. I've forwarded this one to some folks who might. -Carolyn Boller (4/10/00) CELIA A LANDI Born 18 Aug 1938 Died 06 Apr 2000 Age 61 At 85003 (Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ) SSN issued in California -SSDI (12/18/05) I remember party's with Ann Latimer, Ceil Landi, Carilyn Boller, Bonnie Bias, Sally Meyer etc. Mom (Shirley) would bring me up to the reservation office and by the time I departed, my face cheeks about fall off from being pinched so much. Back then headsets, pencils and index cards were the tools of the trade, and of course those darn IRATES. It was a little wild, they all had those 2 ft tall hair styles with birth control glasses on. Of course they were always dressed in nice business attire, the Lady's had it goin on for sure. Lefty Carlson would always have a smile on his face. With all that eye candy wandering around, I would too. -Brad Shackelford (7/21/08) Trish Swanson Hawk , a fellow res agent, sent a poem Cel had written two weeks before the doors closed. I posted it on Cel's memorial webpage. C LANDI Reservation agent seniority date of 3/1/70, emp# 05287, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (4/2/10) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: PHX DEN reservation agent Cel Landi's memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Cel_Landi.html Several items, incuding a photo, added to her page.
