CARL FOSTER 1950 - 1966 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER, REGIONAL MANAGER DUG INW PHX SLC DEN When FL opened up Nebraska, I transferred as manager to LAR - Laramie, WY for 5 1/2 years. In 1964 I took CPR - Casper, WY as manager for 8 months at Carl Foster's request. He was the division director for both stations. In Dec. 1964 I took BFF - Scottsbluff, NE as manager until Apr. 1984. -Les Bendickson, GJT (3/20/02) My name is Ginger Ann Treptow, I worked from Frontier Airlines from 10-6-57 till its demise in 1986. I started in the Reservation Department which at that time was located in the Sahara Hotel in downtown Phoenix. On 1st Street. I was there till they remoted to Sky Harbor Airport and we were located in Terminal One, behind our ticket counter and next to the Operations Department. Some of our Managers were Carl Foster, Cal Reese, Jim Butler, Bert Clark was an Assistant Manager after he retired from flying, and our last Manager that I worked for was Sam Cales. -Ginger Ann Treptow (2/11/06) My step Father was Carlton K Foster. He started as A Ramp/Ticket Agent in Phoenix and soon became Station Manager PHX. Was transferred to Douglas Arizona, he was Station Manager and every thing else, one man station. He was transferred to Winslow also as station manager after closing the Douglas Station. We were in Winslow for about two years. He was then transferred back to PHX as the Regional Supervisor working under a man named Elton Snoke. He was then transferred to Salt Lake City as Regional Supervisor. We lived in A duplex owned by Scott Keller next door to him. Scott And my dad were very good friends. My Dad was then transferred to Denver also as Regional supervisor. He worked for Frontier until late 1966 or just about the time FL got the first 727. My dad flew out to Boeing and flew back on the first FL 727 - I have photo of him on board. -Gary Beam (9/8/09) Hi Gary, Great hearing from you and thanks for all the info you sent. Is your stepdad still alive? I have a file on Carl Foster which I assume is also him. Would love to see some of your photos. Can you scan some and email to me, esp. the pic you mentioned of Carl on the 727? Look forward to hearing from you, -Jake Lamkins, Frontier station agent 1964-86 (9/8/09) Boeing Field, Jan 1966 is written on the back of the photo. Dad said the man to his right was one of the maintenance honchos for Frontier. (Actually it is Bill Monday who held a wide variety of management jobs in his 38 years with FL.) Dad Passed away June 26th 1998. -Gary Beam (9/9/09) Do you recall Carl Foster who was PHX manager way back? I got some email from his stepson which is added below. Gary also sent a photo which I'm attaching. Do you know who the man is on Carl's right? Any info on Carl appreciated. -Jake Lamkins (9/9/09) Jake, what a great picture of Mr. Carl Foster. When I came to Phoenix on October 6, 1957, I reported to the Reservation office at the Sahara Hotel for the midnight shift. Carl was there and it was a surprise because I thought Al Mosley was to be my boss. Guess it was a schedule change. We got along fine and he was always a joy to work with. I remember him smoking those awful cigars but still a great guy. He spent most of his time at the airport and don't remember when he left to do the other things with FL. In this posted picture as I look at it the man on Carl's right is Bill Monday. His step son should be so proud of him and thank him for posting such a great picture. Will keep in my email and print off at a later date for keeping. -Ginger Treptow, STCA Phoenix (9/9/09) Email to Bill Monday: Check out the attached pic I got from Carl Foster's stepson who found me on the internet. Isn't that you in the window seat? Pic taken in Jan 1966 on FL's first 727. -Jake Lamkins (9/10/09) Guilty!! Carl was one of the Regional Mgr of Stns at the time, if I remember correctly. His cohorts in crime were Lou Berets, Ron Gildea and maybe Virg Three in total but not sure of the combo at that period in time. Carl was a riot and used to come up with some very racy "one liners" from time to time. Enjoyed working with him. -Bill Monday (9/10/09) C. K. There was A big article in the Arizona Republic about the gowns and Frontier bringing them in. The Winslow 1952 is a photo of terminal building and hangar at the Winslow Airport. The 49 Buick was my Dad's and the 50 Nash belonged to Hearold Elmer, agent at that time. Elmer owned a nice motel in Winslow on Route 66 as well as working for Frontier. -Gary Beam (9/11/09) The memorial webpage you put together for Dad is very nice! I am glad to have Dad as part of the Frontier history. I know that would have made him happy. He was proud to work for Frontier - it was his whole life.
