BUD NAYLOR 1972 - 1984 DIRECTOR-MAINTENANCE, VICE PRESIDENT-MAINTENANCE, VICE PRESIDENT-FH OPERATIONS DEN Bud passed away on May 26, 1997, of complications from congestive heart failure. He had been VP Maintenance at Frontier and VP Maintenance & Operations of Frontier Horizon. FL Retired Pilots Newsletter (Aug/Sep/Oct 1997) B.R. "Bud" Naylor was with the 8th Air Force in England during WWII. He flew 52 missions as aircraft commander - 33 in Martin B-26 bombers and his last 19 missions in B-17s. On June 2, 1943, at age 24, he flew his last mission: the target was Berlin. Bud recalls; "We made it to the target in fine shape and bombs away. Just as I started to turn to head for home, we took direct hits in the nose and behind the bomb bay. The aircraft literally blew up. Fortunately for the copilot and myself, we had not closed the bomb bay doors. This allowed both of us to dive out the bomb bay. We never again heard from the other eight crew members. I was a prisoner of war for two years close to Berlin. I weighed 175 pounds when I bailed out June 2, 1943, and when I was liberated by the Russians in 1945, I weighed 98 pounds." From article in Spring 1975 Frontier Magazine Bud's photo in same article -Jake Lamkins (3/2/00) Several years ago we stopped at a Wal-Mart in Little Rock & got talking to a Lady employee & she was Bud Naylor's widow. If I can locate her I will notify her of the ESOP. -Frank Meyer (2/10/03) A Jan 1972 article notes Les Keely's arrival at FL as VP-Operations and he is listed in the 1972 annual report with that title. The 1973 annual report lists his title as VP & Technical Director. Aug 1973 and Jan 1974 articles say he is VP-Maintenance and Engineering. The 1974 annual report does not list Les and shows Bud Naylor as VP-Maintenance. Bud was shown as Director-Maintenance in the Jan 1974 article. The May 1974 FL NEWS announced Bud's promotion to VP - no mention of Les. -Jake Lamkins (11/26/09) Posted at the FL Club: Subject: Thanksgiving and George Meshko Several FLolks asked about George's article that I recently mentioned so I posted it in the FL Club Files.
