BOB REISIG 1964 - 1986 PURCHASING, PILOT DEN April 19, 2005 Jake, Enclosed is a check for $20 to renew our subscription to the Frontier News for the next two years. We thoroughly enjoy reading every issue from cover to cover. It's great to keep informed about our "old" Frontier friends and between your newsletter and Ace's, we manage to keep up with a lot of them. Can't believe it's been almost 19 years since we were all thrown to the wolves. Somehow we all managed to go on and find a new life away from Frontier, however, so many continue to enjoy getting together for reunions year after year. It really was and continues to be a "family". Having flown on the "new" Frontier recently, we think they may be be following in our footsteps, but then again they have a lot of our people working for them so they had great role models. The employees were all very friendly and helpful - nice to see these days. Thanks for including the information about our annual Golf Tournament, Party and Picnic in the Spring issue. We're looking forward to seeing many old friends at these events. Oh, and by the way, I still have my FL Cookbook and I'm sure they're still in a lot of "old" Frontier kitchens!! Keep up the good work!! -Bob Reisig and Joanne Wemlinger Griffin (4/19/05) We certainly enjoy reading the Frontier News although the "Gone Wests" are difficult - "Notes from FLolks" are always fun to read and the stories are great. Norland's stories were especially funny since we were there during that time and they brought back lots of memories. And Mary Palkowski Bircher - "Hello" my FA Instructor - of course, we were "Stewardesses" back then!! The class of Sept. '66 - I think we were the largest class Frontier had up until then if my memory serves me right. Lots of other names jump out at us and it's good to know they're still going strong. -Joanne Griffin (formerly Wemlinger) and Bob Reisig (4/11/08) The 14th annual "Original Frontier Airlines" Golf Tournament was held on Friday June 19, 2009 and was a huge success. We had a total of 50 golfers consisting of former Frontier employees, family members, and friends. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th places won prize money, we also had 7 contest holes for gift certificates, and a drawing for prizes that were donated by organizations and friends. Everybody won something and said they enjoyed the day, the weather was perfect, the best we've had all month. Among the players were: Bob Reisig, pilot; Howard Logan, pilot; Keith Sleater, pilot; Ernie Van Winkle, dispatcher; Bette Poppers, wife of pilot Dave Poppers; Jim Phenix, dispatcher; Archie Showell, pilot; Joanne Griffin, flight attendant; Peggy Sauer, flight attendant; Tom Shriner, pilot; Dan Cady, pilot; Gus Stearns, pilot; Greg Sterns, son of Gus Stearns; John Bell, pilot; Chuck Hammarstrom, pilot; Trey Allen, pilot; Charlie Beville, pilot; Dick Martin, pilot; Barbara Martin, wife of Dick Martin; Jack Burt, pilot; Gerry Balfanz, pilot; Jerry Jahnke, agent and Fal tower controller; Skip Lane, husband of Linda Lane, flight attendant; Leo Schuster; field maintenance; Rusty Lambert, pilot; George Vega, pilot; Mike Daciek, pilot; Mike E. Thought you might want to remove that info from the reunion page. -Joanne Wemlinger Griffin (4/27/12) I too am sorry about Bob. Give him my best regards and wishes for a speedy and complete recover. -Jake Lamkins (4/27/12) Bob Reisig passed away this morning..funeral arrangements later. -Ernie Van Winkle (5/22/12) FLacebook: Dispatcher Ernie Van Winkle just emailed; "Bob Reisig passed away this morning..funeral arrangements later." Bob was a pilot who hosted the DEN Golf event with the DEN Reunion. He also assisted in tracking FLolks down on the ESOP Lost List. -Jake Lamkins (5/22/12) I am soo sorry to hear about Bob...we all loved him.. what a nice man who will be missed and remembered with a smile. -Gretchen Densley (5/22/12) I flew with Bob many times and he was a very kind man. -Janice Dove Brown (5/22/12) As you know, Bob Reisig passed away this morning. His daughter and I are writing the obit and we can't remember when Bob went out on medical retirement. I wrote to Billy Walker and he didn't have anything. He is checking with Dave Kaplan to see if he has that information but he also suggested I check with you since you have so much information. It would have been in 1985 or early 1986 - I think. FYI if anyone asks - Bob did not want a funeral or memorial service. His wish was for a private family and close family friends "gathering" here at the house at a later date so that's what we'll be doing. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with the retirement date. -Joanne Wemlinger Griffin (5/22/12) I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. The info you requested is NAME ALPA # DOB DOH CLASS CLA DATE REISIG, ROBERT A 0306126 11/13/42 01/01/66 RT 03/01/86 per FL ALPA Pilot Roster dated 1/20/2012. (DOH is wrong. My condolences, -Jake Lamkins (5/22/12) Thanks so much for the help. Email anything you want included. How did he get the nickname Spider? Regards and condolences, -Jake Lamkins (5/23/12) Spider was the best! I loved flying with him. Joanne too. -Al Beardsley (5/23/12) Spider was one of the most loved pilots in our bunch. No doubt his Flight West will be smooth ending with one of his patented smooth landings on the 19th fairway. -Billy Walker (5/23/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: Pilot Bob Reisig's memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Reisig.html Post your remembrances of Bob. -Jake Lamkins (5/25/12) Thanks for sending me this link. I really enjoyed working with Bob on the ESOP project -Nancy Schafer (6/8/12) Here's a photo of Rod Smith and Bob fishing in Saguache that you can put on Rod's memorial page. Another of four of us (Rod, Diane, Bob and I) in Steamboat. Rod and I go back a long way. We both grew up in Gunnison where he harassed his sister and I over the years. We caught up with each other when we both ended up at FAL in the 60's. His wife, Diane, and I were in the same "Stew" class. They ended up getting married and they played a part in getting Bob and I together. After that the four of us were close and spent a lot of our time, away from the job, together.
