Bob Pier was the Manager of the El Paso Station while I worked there. Later he transferred to Denver and worked as a supervisor on the ramp in Denver. I included the info from SSDI on him. I am looking for any stories about my father that I can pass on to my son. Does anyone have contact with the former employee's group that could relay this request? I have some old promotion photographs and was wondering who might be able to identify some of the people in them. -Jana Pier Brautigam (6/16/08) Hello Jana, Great hearing from you. I was a station agent at Frontier and knew of your dad but never worked with him. I built the FL website, monitor the FL Club and publish a FL newsletter. Your dad has a memorial page on the FL website - http://fal-1.tripod.com/ObitsMgmt.html but I don't have much info on him and would love a photo to upgrade his page. I've forwarded your email to the FL Club so maybe we can get some stories about Bob. Do you recall where all he worked for FL? Send me anything you would like to add to his memorial webpage. I may be able to identify some of the folks in the photos you have. -Jake Lamkins (6/25/08) I had the pleasure to work with your father in Denver in the 70s and 80s. As you probably know his nickname was "Father Time" as he had that great head of silver hair, a tan complexion, and was tall and lean. He like the early shift and on good days would go on board the early flights and shoot the breeze with the stews before passenger boarding time. One morning when I was working in operations, Bob sat down in one of the airplane seats and his radio microphone button got stuck on transmit. It was between his hip and the armrest. I don't remember the details of the conversation but Bob was going on and on about the good old days, things he had done and seen. I finally went out to the flight and Bob was sitting with his legs propped up, talking away. I informed him about his radio and that everyone in the station had been enjoying his BS. For the rest of the day, everyone ribbed Bob about various things he had said. He was embarrassed but took it in stride. Your father was a hard working man with a great sense of humor and many friends. He had a great deal of dignity and treated everyone with respect. -John Dahl (6/26/08) My name is Ed Baker. I am 83 years old and I live in Houston, TX. I worked for FAL from 1950-1955 as a Station Agent, Relief Agent, Station Manager and Relief Manager. I remember working with Bob Pier at Farmington, NM during that time, when he was a Ramp Supervisor and later on, I believe he became a Station Manager. We had some very interesting conversations together. I became Catholic, and he became LDS. We used to get into friendly discussion about the complexities of life. It is good to know he is still remembered. He was a good friend. -Ed Baker (6/26/08) R W PIER Station agent seniority date of 6/17/50, emp# 07073, #3, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. W. PIER Notation says Bob, FMN DEN too IDA Stn Mgr DOB 11/30/25 DOH 7/17/50 Per Feb 1960 FL Roster -Jake Lamkins (7/14/11) I have fond memories of Bob. After completing my agent training in DEN in early 1953 I was assigned to FMN. Looking for a place to live it was recommended that I talk to Bob who as well as being an agent managed an old home that had rooms to rent. It was a sad looking place but one couldn't be very picky in 1953 FMN. I believe nine of us lived in the house and while people came and went almost all worked for Frontier. Frankly, the place was a three ring circus and Bob was the ringmaster who tried to maintain order in the midst of chaos. Among those who lived there were Charlie Southerland, Gerry Bacon and my friend and roommate Fletcher Huskey [when he was a humble agent]. In his soft spoken way Bob made sure we kept the place reasonably clean, oversaw our group dinner, made sure we worked in our very sad vegetable garden out back and generally refereed when we were close to killing each other. Bob became a good friend, and to my recollection without exception everyone truly respected him. -Ira Kemp (7/22/11) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Bob Pier DEN senior station agent Bob Pier's memorial webpage has been updated: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Pier.html Eleven items added but still need an obituary for Bob. -Jake Lamkins (5/29/15) Bob hired me for my first job in the airlines in ELP in March, 1968. -Harry Dixon (5/29/15) What a great guy!
