I went to the FL PHX Reunion Party 10-29-00. Had a great time; I was
station manager here for 4 years 1964-68 and we also took care
of Res for PHX/TUS. Chuck Demoney was Regional Sales
Manager then. We were also a pilot/stewardess base and had 3
mechanics. The fueling operation was under the station manager
too. Altogether we had 80 or so FL personnel. Andy Hushock,
one of my best friends since 1949, was chief pilot and we shared an office.
It was a great party, about 70, and many of my agents were
there: Bob Fish, Vern Crawley, John Koehler, Dave Ross, 
Bob Kelsch & Dave Brown.

(After the bankruptcy,) I called Larry Baker in PHX and he told me a bunch 
of them had found a vocational school and a federal program to pay the tuition. 
Some of the guys who went to Maricopa Skill Center
were Larry Baker, Walt Hatfield, Bob Kelsch, Dave Ross,Arnie Hadler.
Once we all went and applied th Southwest for reservations. 
They treated us like crap and didn't hire one of us.

I got a call from Dave Ross on Sunday, 
he said that Bob Kelsch died and did not know of any arrangements.
I got his daughters name and phone number from Dave, contacted her later that day. 
He passed away on 7/28. Will be cremated and buried in Ellis, Kansas his home town.
She was not running an obit in the Arizona Rep, but will in the Kansas paper.

Well that is just sad altho he hadnt been well for a long time.
Last time he was at the PHX FL picnic he looked so frail. 
What a nice man..I have known Bob since he was system relief agent many years ago!

I missed seeing where Bob had Gone West.   He really was a peach of a fellow.   
I first met Bob Kelsch when I was TDY at the PHX base in 1967.   
Andy Hoshock gave me my airplane check in the 580 and 
it was Bob who helped ready the airplane since no mechanics were around.   
I remember Andy commenting "It would take some doing to out do Bob Kelsch!"    
We had some great visits at the PHX reunions that Dave Ross, 
and later, Ginger and Cindy put together.   
Cheryl and I marvel at how many wonderful people made up 
what we remember as Frontier Airlines, the "real" Frontier Airlines.
