BARBARA PETTY 1970 - 1973 FLIGHT ATTENDANT DEN DAL I was working on the memorial book and thought of a F/A that there is no info on at the obit website. She was Barbara Petty, a VERY pretty redhead that flew out of DFW or MCI. She died in Mexico and I never heard of what causes. I do remember that she invited me to go with her on that trip but I couldn't get off work. I was working in FSM at the time, so that would have been '72 or'73. -Paul Farris (5/30/06) I found these at SSDI: BARBARA PETTY 25 Jan 1943 Mar 1974 (not specified) (none specified) Florida BARBARA PETTY 13 Mar 1938 Nov 1978 71923 (Arkadelphia, Clark, AR) (none specified) Arkansas Was she from Florida and about 31? -Jake Lamkins (5/30/06) The first one would be her but I was pretty sure she died in 73 not 74. Of course, I could be wrong. -Paul Farris (5/30/06) I believe it was determined that Barbara died of a congenital heart defect. She died rather suddenly while horseback riding I believe in Acapulco. I'm sure she was not based in MCI as I was working there in the commissary at the time and I used to see her quite often when I would service the planes. -Richard Vlach (5/31/06) Barbara Petty & I shared a dorm in stewardess school & later were room mates. I transferred to Dallas Love Field the next year. Barbara & an AA stew went on vacation to Mexico and she died there of a heart attack. She was in her 20s. She was a beautiful red head & a great room mate. -Janie Roach (9/17/10) J L ROACH: flight attendant seniority date of 11/21/70 on the 2/1/86 FL/AFA seniority list. So Barbara would have started about the same time in 1970. I don't have a 1970s FL/AFA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (10/4/10) I read her article in the newsletter and it started me doing more research on Barbara Petty. I found her "report of death" from Acapulco and it states she died from "cardiac insufficiency due to traumatic shock". It happened in front of the Hotel Acapulco. It also gave me the name of her parents. Mr and Mrs Gilbert Roy. I have sent them a letter requesting a copy of the obit and a picture if possible. -Paul Farris (1/11/11) BINGO! Your email opened a door. See http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=petty&GSfn=barbara&GSbyrel=in&GSdyrel=in&GSob=n&GRid=8111004&df=all& and notice the second gravestone, last name Roy - probably her brother. The Barbara I found in the SSDI is wrong. You were right - she died in 1973. There is no Barbara J Petty in the SSDI with the dates on her gravestone. Let me know if you hear anything from her folks. -Jake Lamkins (1/11/11) Hi Roberta. First of all let me say thanks for contacting me. I had given up on getting any more information on Barbara. The address for the Old Frontier website is (http://fal-1.tripod.com) When you get to the website , scroll down to the obituaries and there are two listings, use the first one and click on flight attendants and scroll down again until you get to Barbara. You will see the reason we need a good picture. The one from her grave marker does not show up very well. Again thanks. -Paul Farris ((2/25/11) I sent the only information I could find, hope that will be enough. I think the website is really neat. It's great there are people who will take the time to re-create the memories. Thank you so much for what you guys do. Sincerely, -Roberta Bendik (3/25/11) Paul gave me two articles that Barbara Petty's sister had sent him. I'll add it to her memorial webpage: An article about her death and another about graduating from FA school. -Jake Lamkins (3/29/11) I am currently at Frontier Airlines as a flight attendant and my sister worked for the original Frontier Airlines. She passed away in 1973 in Acapulco Mexico. She was with another flight attendant at the time on vacation. My question would be my sister did some commercials for the original Frontier - wanted to know if anyone would have copies of those? Her name was Barbara Petty thanks in advance. -Jolene Michaels (3/23/18) I do not have any info on her modeling but several comments mention her beauty. I have a lot of ads, brochures and advertising copy. Is there a shot or theme that you recall in which she appeared? Also, put Old Frontier Airlines in the Facebook search and come join our group. There are many flight attendants in it and one of them might be of help. My belated sympathies for your loss. She was gone west at way too early an age. -Jake Lamkins (3/23/18) I was only 10 years old when she passed but it was very exciting to have her on the TV I think the ad was something about if you fly Braniff why not try Frontier and then it panned out to her holding a tray of steak and lobster there was a commercial with a blonde a brunette and a redhead -Jolene Michaels (3/24/18)
