Regional Sales Office at the time. Art Giffin was the Reg. Sales Manager. (Promoted to DEN SA and later became an Author and published two books that I know of ) -Chuck Fahrenholz (1/26/10) My name is Mike Warner and compared to many I was a short timer at Frontier. I was hired as a sales rep in 1970 by Larry Sills VP and Art Giffin (sp) Sales manager. Worked in Denver Sales for Art, Ken Gann, John Ahlquist. Moved to Oklahoma City and then Kansas City as sales manager. In 1980 I moved to COS and was the manager there and worked with long time employees Harold Hopkins, Al Beek, Tom Clarke, Larry Gilbert et. al. Frontier was a great airline. It was a great place to work as the people were wonderful. I left Frontier in Dec. 84 to become the executive director of the Pro rodeo Hall of fame in Colorado Springs and was there until 92. Thanks for keeping the spirt of Frontier alive. -Mike Warner (6/10/10) Written after E Paul Burke's death: Hello Mindy, You don't remember me but I had the honor and privilege of working with and being a friend of Paul. When your dad left TWA after Arthur Anderson turned it upside down and became President of Frontier he and I became life long friends. I was his sales manager until he left and went to Johns-Manville and I went with him. It was at that time that Ozark Airlines wanted him as President and I said I would go with him but it didn't work out. Paul and several of us started up a new airline called Sun Valley Key to serve Sun Valley and a property called Elkhorn which J-M owned. After retirement I kept in touch with Paul as best I could directly and through my dear friend and fellow employee Jim Jeppesen. Your father was the epitome of professionalism and all of us younger executives who knew him wanted to emulate him in every way. I wrote a novel about Johns-Manville and I gave your father the 1st copy which he said he would always remember me through that book. He said he enjoyed all 5 of my novels and I consider his compliments on each one dearly. Please accept this personal eulogy as a confession of my affection for Paul. PAUL BURKE THERE ARE THOSE AMONG US WHO, THROUGH THEIR VERY BEING, EMIT AN AURA OF A SPECIAL PERSON PUT ON THIS EARTH TO INSPIRE AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THEIR BEST, WHETHER IN THEIR WORK OR PERSONAL LIFE. SUCH WAS E P BURKE. I WOULD ASK MY MAKER TO TAKE MY GOOD FRIEND PAUL TO HIS BOSOM. HE WAS ALWAYS YOURS HEAVENLY FATHER AND SO BRIEFLY WAS HE OURS, BUT IN THAT TIME WE HAD HIM HE WAS SUCH A WONDER, SUCH A TREASURE AND HIS PRESENCE WAS TO ENJOY. WRITTEN IN FONDEST MEMORY, -ARTHUR A. GIFFIN (6/19/12) I wasn't aware there was a newsletter about "Old Frontier" until my good friend Jim Jeppesen directed me to you. I was hired by Lew Dymond in 1964 and worked my way up to executive positions in Sales and Marketing including opening up St. Louis to our new jet routes in 1967. I left Frontier with Paul Burke and he and I went to Johns-Manville. I wrote a book about Frontier and Lew and Paul received the first copies. It is on Amazon and the book is titled "Auriols Crossing." I don't know how many used book copies are left and I have only a few copies at my Publisher in Denver. I have taken the liberty of sending a little news about myself and my new novel is on Amazon in kindle form if any one is interested. The title is "Colexico" I think it is wonderful you are keeping the communications going and good luck in the future. Kindest personal regards, -Art Giffin ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ABOUT THE AUTHOR Art Giffin grew up in Colorado, but enjoyed spending many of his boyhood summers on his grandparents' farm in Nebraska. (7/5/12) Hi Art, Great hearing from you. I met you a couple of times at FYV and STL. I just finished a memorial webpage for Paul Burke which is posted. Is your book, Auriols Crossing, fiction or a history of FL? -Jake Lamkins (7/5/12) Re: FL Thanks for getting back to me and you certainly bring back some wonderful memories of "Old Frontier." I made a special effort to promote from within and my fondest memories are remembering Vince Davis and R.C. Cunningham from ABQ, Kenny Woods, Steve Michaels, Chuck Faranholz from STL, Norm Teltow from FSM and others who went on to fine careers at FL. The book is fiction and I combine Lew Dymond and Paul Burke into one character. Bless you Jake and I hope we get a chance to meet again. Kindest personal regards, -Art Giffin (7/6/12) Re: FL Club DEN vp-sales&service Bill Mitchell: Bill was my VP and then he went to Continental as Asst VP Sales for Charlie Bucks. I was promoted to Sales Manager for St.Louis and the eastern region. When Lew Dymond left FL as president Bill asked me to come to Continental and I said yes but at the last minute they said I would have to move to LA in the home office instead of Denver and I said no. Bill was lot of fun and loved the airlines. -Art Giffin (10/28/12) I thought you might enjoy Senator Simpson's story. He mentioned Lew Dymond fondly and I told him Lew hired me and fired me six times. He laughed and said knowing Lew that means he liked you a lot! Art Giffin (2/4/13) Re Art Giffin's obituary: This was sad news. I recall the first time I met Art. It was in the Summer of 1968 at the first FYV-FSM Frontier Picnic. We were playing a game of baseball and Art caught a line drive with his crotch. We all had to drink a bunch of beer to help him recover. We had been in touch over the years via email. I bought his novel about Frontier. Condolences to his family. -Jake Lamkins (10/12/16) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Art Giffin STL regional sales manager Art Giffin's memorial webpage is posted: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Art_Giffin.html Post your remembrances of Art. -Jake Lamkins (10/24/16) RE: FLight West: Art Giffin Jim Jeppesen here. I was shocked to learn of Art Giffin’s passing. I knew him while I was in management with Frontier working with Larry Sills in Marketing/Sales. Somehow, a few years ago, Art and I reconnected and began having lunches together at our favorite restaurant here in Castle Rock. But when it closed we just kinda lost track of one another unfortunately. I thoroughly enjoyed his company and all the special activities he was involved in, including his books. A very special person and so glad our life paths crossed. As he now travels west to be with so many other FLamily members, we are left with fond memories of him. As we look up to the western sky at night, we will see a new twinkling star… that will be Art winking at us telling us I’ve arrived and it’s okay. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family. -Jim Jeppesen (10/25/16)
