ART GARCIA 1967 - 1979 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT OKC MKC MCI LIT Killed in car crash going home from work one night by drunk on wrong side of road. Need more info such as date of death, obituary, Art's full name, etc. -Jake Lamkins (12/1/98) In the late 60's, while we were all still using MKC, the freight house was across the airport runways from the gate area. Art had brought the freight around the south road to the ramp and was waiting for the airplane to arrive. There was a show/breeding cat being shipped and it was a nice day so Art got the cat out of it's kennel and was sitting on the tug petting it. TWA's maintenence hanger was adjacent to our gates and when a mechanic cranked up an engine on a Connie, a loud backfire occured. The cat jumped from Art's hands and started running across the ramp. Art took chase with the tug and the cart but when the cat got out near the runway, he gave up chasing. Instead, he went directly back to the freight house where he loaded one of the freight house mouser cats into the kennel and shipped it off to a surprised cat lover somewhere! Sadly, Art was killed in a car wreck going home from work at LIT. He was a piece of work. -Jack Frost (12/5/98) Worked with Art at MCI in 73. He was a character all right. He had a funny story about Arnold Ziffel - the pig from the Green Acres TV show. Apparantly Arnold took a dump in one of the FL boarding areas at MKC airport. Art took some teletype paper and picked it up and put it on the bags that belonged to Arnold's handlers. -Chuck Tisckos (12/6/98) In MCI, Art Garcia would sometimes throw his baseball hat on the ground where he wanted the pilot to put the nose wheel and point to it. Then he would do all his exaggerated moves to park the plane. Once when Mac was driving the 580, he stuck Art's hat to the ramp. Then when he pulled out, he turned the nose wheel pretty sharp. Made a mess out of Art's hat. I don't remember the exact words, but you can guess the tone of Art's comments. -Steve Galusha (2/24/99)   IN MEMORIAM Condolences to the family and friends of Art Garcia, station agent in LIT, who was killed in an auto crash July 19 enroute home from work. Art had 12 1/2 years with FL and previously worked in MCI.
