ARNIE WINHAM 1953 - 1967 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER, MANAGER-MILITARY & GOVERNMENT SALES, GENERAL SALES MANAGER, ASSISTANT VICE PREIDENT-MARKETING LAW GSW I noticed Arnie Winham named in a couple of the articles on Clay. Do you have any info on Arnie? I think he had an automobile dealership somewhere in southwestern Oklahoma after his airline career. His dad delivered the mail to the Lawton airport for the USPS. -Ray Marney (1/26/09) I don't have much on Arnie. Just a few items from the CN newsletter. Full name is Arnold D. Winham per Oct 1963 article. Did he come to FL after the merger? The SSDI has an Arnold Winham, 1931-1975, whose SSN was issued in OK. Reckon this is him? I did a web search but found hardly anything. -Jake Lamkins (1/26/09) Arnold D. Winham FTW Military Service Liaison Seniority date of 10/22/53 on the 1/1/62 CN/ALEA seniority list -Jake Lamkins (1/26/09) Yes, that is probably him. I don't know if he stayed on after the CN/FL merger. I didn't know he died that young. I think it was probably in the early 70's when his dad moved the mail between the airport and the post office. I think he (dad) was drawing social security and the post office job was just kind of a hobby. We moved very little mail by air at that time. Almost all of it was trucked to OKC. He had a new van and I think he said it belonged to Arnie's Chevy dealership. I think USPS put that job up for bid and Arnie got it for him. As you can tell I am not sure about any of this. I just seen the name and was wondering what might have happened to him. -Ray Marney (1/26/09) Arnie has definitely flown west. His son's obituary names his mother as Jo Ann whose name is mentioned in the Apr/May article and the obituary says he is deceased. Likewise, the OK obituary appears to be his mom and says he is deceased. And his brother says he is deceased but I was unable to find an obituary for Arnie. I will go with the SSDI dates until info to the contrary is received. Nothing at FindAGrave.com I cannot find out if he went with Frontier at the merger in October 1967. He is not in the Jan 1970 FL Telephone Directory. -Jake Lamkins (7/11/13) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: GSW asst vp Arnie Winham's memorial webpage has been posted.. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Arnie_Winham.html Still need an obituary for Arnie. -Jake Lamkins (7/15/13) I remember Arnie. Good guy! -Ray Marney (7/15/13) I also remember Arnie. As Ray said, good guy & fun to be around. Great sense of humor. -Jim Mustain (7/15/13) Glad to get the info on Arnie. He was a great man and my mentor into management at Central, JAMTO in COS, Res Spvr, Regional Sales Mgr in DAL. He left Central right after the merger was announced to become a VP at Southern Airways in ATL. He offered me a job in MIA that I refused and we stayed in touch for a while before he died. I am not sure but as I recall (he died of) a heart attack. -Ken Gann (7/17/13)
